Best Western City View Hotel

Seventy years ago when it was a public elementary school, boys entered through this door. It was the front door.

Girls entered on the side. Surely they still entered from the side even when it was a yeshiva for the very orthodox Satmar, right after the war.

Now both sexes walk even further down the side to enter.

Mohammad Daud is the owner of the franchise.

He took over the City View Motor Inn and joined up with Best Western in 1989.

He renovated.

Just a single closet holds traces of the old PS 80.

The Best Western has hardly any vacancies. And it has 71 rooms in Blissville where the nearest subway is a mile away. He's made sure his hotel is where distressed passengers from LaGuardia stay. But he's also marketed to personnel working in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Chambers of Commerce and the District Attorneys' offices.

Mohammad dares anyone to do as well as he has with the hotel. Five people failed before he took over.

One of his innovations is his Delux Complimentary Continental Breakfast.

Fresh juices, donuts, and bagels with a special bagel cutter.

"We like to give our customers special treatment."

"I have made this hotel into a United Nations."

"My employees speak Pakistani, Indian, Spanish and Portuguese." Mohammad is from Pakistan.

He even has a regular shuttle to take guests to the subway which wisks them into Manhattan. Just about all the guests take advantage of this. And miss touring Blissville.
